Newcastle dealt blow as multiple PL clubs now eye ‘amazing’ transfer target

Newcastle United have been handed a huge transfer blow as Borussia Dortmund attacker Youssoufa Moukoko will enter talks with his club in January to decide his future.

Newcastle, along with Liverpool, had shown interest in the 19-year-old back in January, but a deal never really materialised and the rumours disappeared.

Now, TEAMtalk are reporting that the forward is set to discuss his future with the German club in the next couple of months amid rumours that he could be a target for other Premier League clubs.

Moukoko unhappy at Dortmund

Though his career at Dortmund began with excitement and he was tipped to be an ‘amazing’ star, Moukoko is yet to start in a Bundesliga game and has only played a combined total of 136 minutes this season.

With a number of clubs interested in signing the youngster in January, there’s no reason why the German would not want to move away in search of more regular playing time.

Both Crystal Palace and Fulham have emerged as potential suitors for the teenager while Chelsea also have a longstanding interest in the attacker, but they seem more focused on an elite level centre-forward like Victor Osimhen to lead their line.

Dortmund are understood to be more open to a loan move, but a permanent deal is also not off the table if the price is right given that they cannot find a place for the young man in their current squad.

Newcastle looking elsewhere in January

Newcastle are big fans of Moukoko and had targeted him last January, even making a substantial bid of £150,000 a week, but the recruitment team are currently looking elsewhere at the moment.

With suspensions and injuries piling up, Newcastle are looking to find a replacement midfielder to fill in for Sandro Tonali who will be banned until August 2024.

Given that they are also one injury away from Paul Dummett starting key games against Chelsea, PSG and Man United, there has also been huge emphasis placed on finding a centre-back in the next couple of windows.

So, while Moukoko may be an attractive talent and someone who Newcastle admire, there are just more pressing issues on Tyneside right now than signing the highly-rated Dortmund attacker.
