Mehrdad Ghodoussi’s latest Instagram post is absolutely sensational.

The Newcastle co-owner has reportedly remained in the UK as the club look to land the reinforcements they need before the transfer window closes. Meanwhile, his wife Amanda Staveley has travelled with the Magpies squad to Saudi Arabia.

Talk of new arrivals went into overdrive on Monday, with rumours of Jesse Lingard, Diego Carlos, Dele Alli, Aaron Ramsey and many many more. It’s amazing what one win can do…

But Ghodoussi took time out of his no doubt busy day to have some fun with the Toon fans who follow his personal Instagram account.

Mehrdad Ghodoussi is the new Mackem Slayer

On Friday night, Ghodoussi engaged with fans on Twitter following news that Staveley would head to Saudi Arabia with the team.

One supporter asked to see Ghodoussi on set piece duty following a previous picture of the Toon co-owner. This led to a fantastic photoshop job of Staveley’s husband tucking home a penalty against Sunderland.

With his head branded upon Alan Shearer’s body, Ghodoussi shared the picture with his 15,000 followers on Monday night.

He also added the rather humorous caption ‘if Carlsberg did owners…’ in reference to an old advert used by the lager brand where they claimed they were the best.

Fans will agree with Ghodoussi if he gets some major signings over the line his week.

Obviously it’s just tongue-in-cheek from the consortium member, but this kind of communication with fans is a joy to see. It was non-existent from the previous regime. Imagine Lee Charnley doing that!

The takeover has delighted supporters, reinvigorating a fanbase that watched their club stagnate for too long.

But if we don’t sign another striker this week, perhaps Ghodoussi might have to dust off his boots…
