Newcastle United’s new kit suppliers Castore have big plans for the club shop at St James’ Park, and hope to emulate Liverpool and Chelsea.
The clothing brand’s partnership with the Magpies was announced last week, with the Athletic claiming they have signed a six-year deal to supply Newcastle’s gear.
We have already seen the training kit, while their first match shirt will be unveiled today (July 10th).
The kit did ‘leak’ on social media on Friday, and received a mixed response from fans despite early optimism.

But new kits always cause uproar. It’s rare that any new shirt from any club is met with universal praise.
Castore have big plans for Newcastle, who are the second Premier League club to work with them. They will also be making Wolves’ kits this season as well.
Castore aim to replicate Liverpool and Chelsea shops at Newcastle
On top of making the kits, Castore will also be taking over the club shop at St James’ Park.
They will also be opening stores in the city centre, bringing more jobs to the region – which is always a good thing.

In an interview with the Athletic, Castore co-founder Thomas Beahon has spoke about his plans for the St James’ Park shop.
“We believe St James’ should have a store equivalent to those at Anfield and Stamford Bridge which, to be blunt, they just don’t,” he said.
“Just as we’re improving the products and making them bespoke, we’re doing exactly the same with the retail experience, both physical and online.
“Allan Saint-Maximin is a huge draw in France, but Newcastle sells virtually nothing in France; we want to change that and improve the experience for fans at home and abroad.”

Castore are clearly ambitious. But if they want to replicate the Liverpool store at Anfield, they’ll need to find somewhere for it.
That shop is absolutely huge. It’s a tourist’s wet dream, even selling Liverpool branded bottles of water.
It makes the one at St James’ Park look like a mini Spar you would find in the Costa del Sol.
But the ambition is clearly there from Castore. From bespoke kits to shops across the city, this could be the start of a very healthy partnership.
