When Joe Willock left Arsenal for Newcastle on loan, it was unclear how he’d get on in the north east.

But just moments into his debut he found the net, and proved he had what it takes to thrive at St James’ Park.

That was his first of three goals for Newcastle, and every single one has been important.

The first was the opener in a tight win over Southampton. The second was a late equaliser against Tottenham. And the third was a brilliant headed winner against West Ham.

The latter two goals came off the bench, with Willock having an instant impact both times.

The goal against West Ham was crucial, as the Magpies did their best to throw away victory against the 10 men in claret and blue.

If Newcastle survive this season, Willock will know he has played an important role.

But people are already wondering whether or not he will be back at St James’ Park next season.

Will Willock be back next season?

The midfielder hinted that he would be open to returning, while reports suggests that Arsenal could be willing to do business.

According to the Telegraph, Arsenal are open to selling Willock, who is valued in the region of £20million.

Steve Bruce has made his intentions clear – he wants Willock at the club next season.

“We will have to have a conversation with Arsenal first,” he told the Telegraph.

“It’s a bit disrespectful of me to talk about him because he is still their player, but certainly, the move has helped him and it has helped us.

“If there is something that can be done [to sign him] I would love to do it.”

£20million is a lot of money for Newcastle, but Willock is proving he can be worth it.

His attitude is great. He hasn’t sulked despite being on the bench in recent weeks. And when he’s on the pitch, he tries to get in the box and score goals.

The 21-year-old is a wonderful footballer who can only get better. Fingers crossed we see him continue to improve in a black and white shirt.
