Newcastle United are waiting for the green light to sign Juventus winger Matias Soule after discussions with their director Cristiano Giuntoli just a few days ago.
Rumours that Newcastle were interested in Soule began after Giuntoli returned from a trip to London where he had been touting the services of two youngsters to English clubs.
A report from JuveLive.it now claims that Newcastle are waiting to get the green light from Giuntoli before making the signing in January.
Juventus want to sell young stars to raise funds
With Juventus in such a difficult situation financially, Giuntoli has come up with the idea of selling some of their best youngsters in order to raise funds for the January window and compete for the Serie A title.
Soule has been identified as an ‘excellent’ talent at Juventus after a breakout season on loan at Frosinone and the club will now look to move the 20-year-old on for around £21m with Newcastle waiting in the wings.
The report states that Newcastle are ‘ready’ to make the purchase of Soule and are waiting for nothing else but a nod from the Juventus director to let them know that the deal is ready to move.
Soule would add more quality in the wide areas to Eddie Howe’s team who have suffered a number of big injuries to players in those positions. Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy have both had spells out and Howe will want to avoid ending up in a similar situation later in the season.

Newcastle are not the only team chasing Soule
Both Newcastle and Crystal Palace were believed to have been in conversation with Giuntoli during his trip to England, with the Eagles also enquiring about Soule’s availability.
Questions have been asked throughout the season about the futures of Ebereche Eze and Michael Olise who have both been brilliant for Palace over the last couple of campaigns.
Those in charge at Selhurst Park may just be lining up possible replacements should they lose one of their key men, or they could be looking to add to their quality in depth and hoping Soule can provide more competition in these attacking positions.
Newcastle will still believe they have a strong case to attain Soule in January, but Palace’s interest does give the Juventus man options when it comes to making the decision.
