Newcastle United have a rising star on their hands in Lewis Miley, and Toon fans could potentially get a chance to see him tonight.
Eddie Howe‘s side face Brighton at St James’ Park in a crucial game in the race to finish in the top four, with Newcastle expected to make changes to the side that drew against Leeds last time out.
We believe that Alexander Isak should drop to the Toon bench, and he could be joined by one of the club’s emerging talents.
Lewis Miley could be in the Newcastle squad tonight against Brighton
According to the Athletic, Lewis Miley is expected to be involved against Brighton tonight. That will hopefully mean he is on the bench, rather than just part of the matchday squad.
The 17-year-old was spotted in first-team training ahead of the game, and Sean Longstaff’s injury means that the Magpies are currently light in the midfield department.
Elliot Anderson is Newcastle’s only fit centre-midfielder in reserve, which perhaps explains why Miley could be with the team for tonight’s game.
The Athletic add that the teenager has a chance to make his first-team debut before the season ends, with just three games left to play.
Given what is at stake, Howe might be reluctant to throw Miley in at the deep end. However, it would be great to see him get some senior minutes under his belt between now and the end of the current campaign. An ideal situation would be him featuring against Chelsea, with our place in the top four already guaranteed.
Newcastle have extremely high hopes for Miley, and believe that he has a genuine chance to become a Premier League star at St James’ Park. That is high praise for a player who has just turned 17.
Miley has been on the Newcastle bench before. He was an unused substitute during the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth back in February.
