Musician James Bay was asked by talkSPORT who his three dream signings for Newcastle United would be. Growing up Bay was influenced by Alan Shearer, and that led him to becoming a Toon fan despite growing up in Hertfordshire.
The first name he went for was John Stones. “Well, there’s talk of him coming, I’m being realistic.”, Bay stated.
“Following that said he wanted Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, he was reasoning was he thought Newcastle need “someone who can put it around the middle of the park.”
Finally, he concluded with Kylian Mbappe of PSG. He initially went for Divock Orgi to keep his somewhat realistic theme going. But was encouraged by the host to choose someone else.
“Ok I’ll go a tiny bit higher, I’ll go for Kylan Mbappe”, the singer concluded.

There’s no doubt Bay’s trio would improve Newcastle’s squad
The man who’s represented England for Soccer Aid before went pretty bold with his selection. However, to be fair to him, it was dream picks and not realistic picks. Additionally, as previously stated he did say Origi initially as his number one pick and not Mbappe.
It’s certainly unlikely that Mbappe will make the move to Newcastle next season. Kante making the move to the Magpies also doesn’t seem that it’ll happen. But there’s no doubt they’d add quality to Eddie Howe’s side.
As for Stones, Bay is correct that they’ve been linked with him. GiveMeSport linked the England international with Newcastle this month.

It isn’t the first he’s been on their radar, he was wanted by Rafa Benitez according to The Telegraph in May 2020. It would definitely be a big statement signing.
Stones may seek opportunities elsewhere from Man City. He’s struggling to make the starting XI moment, a move could see him land more minutes.
He’ll want to prove to Gareth Southgate he is worthy of being taken to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. With multiple trophies to his name and plenty of England caps, Newcastle wouldn’t go wrong with Stones.
