They’re no longer teammates, but the Miguel Almiron and Josef Martinez bromance is the gift that just keeps on giving.

The Newcastle attacker scored twice in last night’s win over West Brom, and paid tribute to his former teammate with his celebration.

During their time at Atlanta United, the pair would celebrate by doing a Dragonball-Z inspired ‘fusion’, as seen below.

Their time together ended when Miggy moved to Newcastle in January 2019. However, their friendship continues.

Martinez suffered an ACL injury on Saturday, which could keep him out for a long time.

And following the news of his friend’s injury, Almiron celebrated his goal like he was back in America alongside his partner in crime.

Martinez’s injury is a blow for Atlanta, who have relied on him for goals. The Venezuelan has averaged almost a goal a game during his entire career in the MLS.

He’s a sensational player, and one who a lot of Toon fans would like to see playing at St James’ Park.

During the January transfer window amid talk of a ‘mystery’ target, some fans really hoped that it was Martinez.

Sadly it wasn’t, meaning a possible Almiron-Martinez reunion is on hold for the foreseeable future.
