Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron believes Jacob Murphy is the funniest player at St James’ Park.

The Paraguayan is swimming in awards right now, having enjoyed a sensational October for the Magpies.

First he was named Newcastle’s Player of the Month, then came Premier League recognition. He beat Toon teammates Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier to be named Premier League Player of the Month, then he won Goal of the Month too for his volley against Fulham.

Now he has picked up another honour. Almiron has been named PFA Premier League Fans’ Player of the Month for October.

A video of the 28-year-old receiving his award has been published on the PFA’s social media channels, and it includes some quickfire questions with the speedy winger.

Jacob Murphy named the funniest player at Newcastle

As part of his interview with the PFA, Almiron was asked who he thinks is his ‘funniest’ teammate at Newcastle right now.

“Jacob Murphy,” he responded.

“The truth is I get along very well with him always. He’s always in a good mood. He is always joking.

“When they tell him to dance, he dances. When you tell him to sing, he sings. It’s no problem. The truth is he is funny.”

Morale a must at Newcastle right now

It sounds like the mood behind the scenes at Newcastle right now is exceptional, and so it should be. The team is playing well, while so many players are enjoying incredible runs of form. The group is united, and it shows on the pitch.

Almiron clearly enjoys Murphy’s company, and even praised him for his efforts as dressing room DJ. It sounds like he’s good fun to be around, and he has backed it up with some decent performances as of late.

Murphy has played his part in Newcastle’s extraordinary run, often starting on the left during Allan Saint-Maximin’s absence.

The £12million signing has been delivering on the pitch, and he is also providing the laughs off it.

There appears to be some great characters at the club right now. Kieran Trippier recently claimed that Nick Pope and Callum Wilson have the ‘best crack’ out of the Newcastle players. Now Almiron thinks Murphy is the funniest.

But there’s nothing funny about how the Magpies are playing right now. Howe has built a team of ferocious competitors who will do whatever it takes to win. We saw that on Saturday night, with horror tackles flying in to stop Chelsea from equalising.

This Newcastle team know how to get serious. Even Murphy stopped the jokes and was involved in the post-game scrap at the weekend.
