Sky Sports Soccer Saturday pair Jeff Stelling and Paul Merson feel no team in the Premier League rely more on one player than Newcastle do on Allan Saint-Maximin.
Speaking ahead of today’s clash with Watford at 2.15pm on Sky Sports News, the duo discussed the French forward.
In the absence of Callum Wilson, Newcastle are really looking at Saint-Maximin for creativity and invention in attack.
Stelling said: “It just seems to me that they depend on Saint-Maximin to such a degree, more than any other team depends on one single player?”
Merson went along with that, saying: “I would say that, definitely.
“He gives it everything he’s got – give him his due. When he’s hot, he is unplayable. Unplayable. They’ve been unlucky sometimes – Newcastle.”
Perhaps Crystal Palace have been reliant on Wilfried Zaha at times than Newcastle are on Saint-Maximin.
But without Wilson in the side, if the French flier doesn’t do anything, it’s hard to see where goals or excitement will come from.
The clash with Watford already looks like a huge one in terms of the potential battle against relegation this season.
