Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi has posted a four-word message to supporters after securing a deadline day signing.
It has been a very uneventful month let alone final day of the January window for Newcastle, but they have made one permanent signing today.
Following the announcement that Alfie Harrison would be joining from Manchester City, Ghodoussi took to Instagram to make a post regarding the 18-year-old’s decision to sign for Newcastle.
Newcastle are ‘investing in the future’
It may not be what Newcastle fans were hoping for on deadline day amid all the excitement coming into January when the club were desperate for reinforcement thanks to an unexpected number of injuries.
However, in the long-term it is certainly a step in the right direction and another sign that Newcastle are building something special for the future with all of these young additions.
Harrison joins a talented group of players who made the move to Tyneside recently as Ghodoussi and the rest of board look to make things a lot more sustainable at the club.
On his Instagram story, Ghodoussi posted Harrison holding the Newcastle shirt with the caption: “Investing in the future”.

New signing could have a first-team role this season
It’s not yet clear if the midfielder will have a first-team role to play this season, in an area where Newcastle are so thin and so in need of fresh legs, but it’s good for Eddie Howe that he at least has that option.
Should Bruno Guimaraes pick up another yellow card any time soon, resulting in a two game ban, Newcastle will be left with just two central midfielders and Harrison’s name may be called upon sooner than expected.
Howe, as ever, won’t want to rush the player into the team too quickly, as we’ve seen him do with so many signings so far, but his hand may be forced if things continue to work against him.
Harrison has not made his professional debut yet of course, but his record of eight goals and four assists in eight appearances in the U18 Premier League does fill you with confidence.
