West Ham United defender Max Kilman knows what to expect from the Newcastle United crowd tonight.
The Hammers are on their way to Tyneside, as they prepare to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park for Monday night football.
Eddie Howe’s side are the favourites, with the likes of Paul Merson and Chris Sutton backing Newcastle United to win. That is not a major surprise when you consider the recent form of both teams.
On top of that, the Magpies have home advantage. During 2024, Newcastle United have only lost twice at St James’ Park.
And to give Newcastle an even further the boost, the fact it is a night game usually means the atmosphere is a little bit more ferocious.

West Ham defender ready for St James’ Park atmosphere

That is no surprise to West Ham United defender Max Kilman, who has told their official website that he is prepared for a great atmosphere when the Hammers arrive in the North East.
“St James’ Park is always a tough place to go, and their support is really good, so it’s going to be tough,” he said.
“But we’re really looking forward to it.
“These are the kinds of games and atmospheres you want to be part of, and I think it’s the kind of match where we can really push on.”
Max Kilman could have become a Newcastle United player this summer
Kilman knows what to expect from the Newcastle United fans. He played at St James’ Park plenty of times during his Wolves career, but is now going to represent West Ham United.
However, had things gone differently over the summer, Kilman could be preparing to wear black and white tonight.
That is because Newcastle United tried to sign Kilman during the summer transfer window.
The Magpies made a bid for Kilman in June, with the deal possibly seeing Elliot Anderson move the other way. At the time, Newcastle were looking to sign a centre-back, whilst also aiming to comply with profit and sustainability.
Unfortunately for Newcastle, their bid was rejected. In the end, Anderson did leave, but he joined Nottingham Forest. Odysseas Vlachodimos moved the other way, despite Newcastle United not needing another senior goalkeeper.
Eddie Howe’s centre-back pursuit remains ongoing, with Newcastle planning a new bid for Marc Guehi in January.
As for Kilman, he will aim to show Toon officials what they missed out on tonight.
