Newcastle United will hope to welcome some key players back for the Premier League clash with Chelsea after the international break, and the Blues could do the same.

Eddie Howe is currently without club record signing Alexander Isak, who has been out of action with a groin injury. The 24-year-old has been spotted back in training, and is expected to be available after the upcoming international break.

Newcastle‘s first game back is a home clash with Chelsea, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side heading to St James’ Park on November 25th. It will be the first time the two sides have met this season, and will serve as an appetiser before the Carabao Cup quarter final at Stamford Bridge in December.

It will be a huge boost if Newcastle have Isak back, as he is currently the Magpies’ joint top scorer with seven goals.

No one in Chelsea colours has scored that many goals this season, which is why they are desperate to get Christopher Nkunku back. The Frenchman signed for £52million in the summer, but is yet to make his Premier League debut due to injury.

However, that could change when Chelsea face Newcastle later this month.

Pochettino speaks about Nkunku returning against Newcastle

Ahead of Chelsea’s game against Manchester City this weekend, Pochettino spoke to the media. He told Chelsea’s official website that while Nkunku is not fit to return yet, he has pencilled in the game against Newcastle on November 25th for his comeback.

“I had a conversation with Christopher and he said to me he wanted to be involved after the international break, against Newcastle,” he said.

That will be a big boost for Chelsea

Chelsea spent a lot of money on Nkunku, but are yet to see him in action. But that could change when they face Newcastle in the first game after the international break.

That will be a huge boost for the Blues, as they have struggled for goals at times this season. Nicolas Jackson has not set the world alight, despite scoring a hat-trick in the recent win over Tottenham Hotspur.

But Nkunku is a level above, and is a player who Newcastle will be really wary of if he does feature at St James’ Park.

He is a player who has previously been linked with a move to Tyneside, but the Magpies were unable to do a deal on multiple occasions. Now he is a Premier League player, and could actually make his debut against Newcastle, rather than for them.
