Martin Dubravka has been so impressed with one Newcastle United player lately despite the team’s recent run of poor results in all competitions.
Lewis Miley has been a shining light in what has been the most difficult period of the season for Newcastle who are now out of the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
In a recent interview with NUFCTV, Dubravka revealed just how impressed he’s been with Miley’s performances on the pitch for Newcastle and how he’s conducted himself off of it.
Dubravka says Miley is always wanting to learn
It’s clear to see for the average Newcastle fan that Miley is a hard working talent who has earned his place in this team, so it’s no surprise to hear Dubravka say that he’s been trying to learn as much as he can on the training pitch.
It was a great moment at the weekend for the 17-year-old to score his first goal for the club and the Slovakian was really pleased to see the hard work pay off.
According to the 34-year-old shot-stopper, Miley has been eager to listen and learn from the experienced players at the club and it’s obvious to see that his game is developing because of it.
If he can take some of the best qualities of Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton and adapt it into his game then there’s no telling just how good he can be in the Premier League in the future.
In his interview, Dubravka said: “I think it’s an incredible story. He has so much potential, he has a future ahead of him so I’m so happy for him.
“He’s a great lad, he’s humble, he’s quiet and tries to learn by listening to the experienced players.
“I don’t think it could have been better for him because it was the Gallowgate for the first goal.
“He’s been amazing for us, he’s stepped up for us in the crucial moments, not only his goal but his pass for Alex [against Chelsea], so for the age of 17 it’s incredible.”

Newcastle will again have to rely on the teenager
With no signs of any midfield players recovering from their injury any time soon, it looks like the pressure will again be on Miley to hold his own against Luton and Nottingham Forest in Newcastle’s upcoming games.
As Dubravka suggests, though, Miley has stepped up to the plate whenever he’s been called upon and is yet to let Newcastle down, even despite the team losing four of their last five.
If given the chance again in the next two games there’s no doubts that the young man will take everything in his stride and once again look like he belongs in the heart of this team’s midfield.
