Newcastle United’s desire to bring Elliot Anderson back to the club could be thwarted by Manchester United.
Geordie Boot Boys understands that Newcastle United want to re-sign Anderson, who has become an England regular since leaving the club in 2024.
Sadly, Newcastle do not have a buy-back clause for Anderson and Nottingham Forest are in a strong position to demand a lot of money for him.
Anderson still has four years to run on his contract at the City Ground and his value will surely only have risen now he’s a key player under Thomas Tuchel at international level.
Newcastle fans would no doubt love to see Anderson return to St James’ Park but their Manchester rivals are seemingly ready to go big in their pursuit of him.

Manchester United ready to “pull out all the stops” to sign Elliot Anderson
According to The Daily Mirror, Ruben Amorim’s side have made signing Anderson a priority next summer.
Interestingly, the report suggests that the 23-year-old is viewed as a cheaper option than Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, who they claim is valued at around £100million.
Previously, it has been claimed that Forest value Anderson at between £100-£120million.
The report suggests that while there is a lot of competition for his services, the Old Trafford giants are “ready to pull out all the stops” to sign him.
Why Newcastle United will fear Manchester United’s plans for Elliot Anderson
If those at Old Trafford are ready to pull out all the stops to sign Anderson, that surely means a huge financial offer to both Forest and the player.
It’s difficult to see how Newcastle would respond to that. While hardly paupers, they simply cannot afford the same wages as their Manchester rivals.
Eddie Howe has already hinted that Anderson may be too expensive for Newcastle and battling a team with the kind of resources Man United have makes that even more likely.
It would be gutting to see Anderson enjoy his best years at Old Trafford, or anywhere else other than St James’ for that matter.
However, that may sadly be the grim reality of it all.
