Manchester United won the Carabao Cup at Wembley on Sunday, and their fans continued to rub it in the faces of Newcastle United on Wednesday night at Old Trafford.
Erik Ten Hag’s Man United side faced West Ham in the FA Cup fifth round, just days after lifting the League Cup at Newcastle‘s expense.
It was the latest game in the Red Devils’ trophy quest, and they advanced to the quarter finals where they will face Fulham. After a slow start to the season, Man United are still in the mix to win four trophies.
There is a real sense that Man United are ‘back’, and the Old Trafford faithful continued to celebrate the Carabao Cup triumph early on in the game against West Ham.
Man United fans aim chant at Alan Shearer yet again
In the 10th minute of the FA Cup contest, the home fans inside Old Trafford turned their attention back to the Carabao Cup victory…by singing a song about Alan Shearer.

The Man United supporters reverted to their usual chant of ‘cheer up Alan Shearer…’, a song we heard on Sunday on the rare occasion that the red half of the stadium made any noise.
10 minutes into your first game after a cup win – your first in six years – and all you can do is laud it over a bloke who turned you down not once but twice? Have a day off lads. It’s not like he was even at Old Trafford – he was stationed at Bramall Lane to do the draw for the next round of the FA Cup with Mark Chapman!
A lot has been said about Manchester United’s support at Wembley at the weekend. They were nowhere to be seen throughout London until about 4.25pm on Sunday, waved their free scarves, rarely made a peep until scoring and then some left early before lifting the trophy.
Newcastle fans were stood in the queue for the tube, side by side with Man United supporters who looked like they’d just came from a funeral rather than watching their team lift silverware. It was incredibly strange.
Then they follow it up by just singing about Alan Shearer in their first game after ending their trophy ‘drought’.
And they wonder why no one likes them…
