Newcastle United hammered Everton at the weekend, with Malick Thiaw the unlikely source of two goals in a 4-1 win.
It’s no secret that Malick Thiaw has had a great influence at Newcastle United already this season, with some impressive displays in defence.
If Malick Thiaw wasn’t your MOTM against Everton, who was?
However, he’s not a player renowned for his goalscoring exploits at all. Still, he popped up with two brilliant headers at Hill Dickinson Stadium and was one of the best Newcastle players on the pitch against Everton.
Hopefully, he can keep up this run of good form and keep contributing goals. Based on the simple yet effective advice Thiaw has been given, we’d say that’s very likely.

Nick Woltemade advice helped Malick Thiaw
Everyone was impressed with Thiaw’s display versus Everton. So, what was the secret to his success on Saturday?
Speaking after the game, the man himself said: “Yesterday, I spoke with Nick [Woltemade] and Fabian [Schar] about it – about how I had had opportunities to score. I just maybe needed some better technique – more power maybe – and Nick and Fabi showed me… and it worked out.
“It is amazing. I have never scored two goals in a match since youth football. I think I was 17 years old. I have only scored two goals in a season.”
With Woltemade getting better and better for Newcastle each week, it makes sense that Thiaw would heed his advice, especially when it comes to scoring goals.

Is Malick Thiaw one of Premier League’s best?
Thiaw heralded Lewis Miley’s performance against Everton, but it’s the big German defender who is attracting the most praise right now.
Since arriving this summer, Thiaw has quickly established himself as the best centre-back at Newcastle, and he’s rapidly becoming one of the most highly-rated in his role in the entire Premier League.
Newcastle United fans, use just one word to describe that 4-1 win👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thiaw was accused of making mistakes during his time in Italy with AC Milan, but that part of his game appears to have been solved already.
Obviously, he still has a long way to go and a lot to prove over the season before he’s considered alongside the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Gabriel, and Cristian Romero, but Thiaw has a legitimate shout at being among the elite in this division in the future.
