Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

The claim comes from Calciomercato, who claim the Reds, alongside Chelsea and Everton, could move for the Frenchman in 2022.

First things first, the report is from the Italian media. Why would they know about a Premier League team wanting to sign a Premier League player who isn’t even Italian?

The source doesn’t seem reliable at all, but that hasn’t stopped people talking about it. Sky Sports even tweeted about it.

Some Liverpool fans are very excited about the prospect of Saint-Maximin heading to Anfield – and so they should be.

The 24-year-old is one of the most exciting players in the Premier League. He’s even adding end product to his game this season, so far providing three assists and scoring twice.

Saint-Maximin could easily play for a much bigger club. And he could get even better working with a manager like Jurgen Klopp.

The German has created multiple superstars at Anfield, such as Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.

Klopp could easily have the same impact on Saint-Maximin, and take him from entertainer to an elite Premier League player.

With how he’s been playing, it will be no surprise to see bigger clubs chasing his signature. And unless there is a takeover and proof of ambition at St James’ Park, it might be impossible to keep Saint-Maximin in a black and white shirt.

While the report is dubious at best, Liverpool fans are keen to see Saint-Maximin join them next year.
