Lewis Hall has urged Newcastle United supporters not to be too negative about how the season has so far panned out.
While the 2025/26 season has hardly been a disaster for Newcastle United, there have been some worrying signs at times.
The team’s performances in defeats against the likes of West Ham, Brentford and Sunderland were arguably as bad as anything served up in the Eddie Howe era and supporters have often vented their frustration on social media.

However, the Premier League table is tight and Newcastle are still in both the Carabao Cup and the Champions League.
Howe is fed up of the negativity at Newcastle and Hall certainly agrees.

The defender has once again established himself as one of the team’s most important players despite suffering with injury.
Hall’s rapid-fire rise to the top started last season, though that was a campaign ended prematurely because of a foot injury.
The 21-year-old made his comeback earlier this season but quickly suffered a hamstring issue.
Since returning to the fold against Manchester City in November, however, Hall has not looked back and has played a key role for the team.

While he accepts that criticism merely comes with the territory, Hall agrees with Howe that the mood does not need to be so negative.
“All supporters have the right to their opinion,” he told The Daily Mail.
“But, for us, it’s about not necessarily listening to it. Sometimes, you can understand where people are coming from.
“Some other things, personally, I wouldn’t agree with it. I always focus on what I can do and what the manager wants from us as a team. That’s the most important, we all listen to him.”

Hall is right to an extent, there are reasons to be positive. Indeed, this could yet be another successful season for owners PIF.
Newcastle could feasibly win another Carabao Cup and reach the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time in their history.
However, it’s also unwise to ignore some issues. This team haven’t convinced for any great deal of time just yet, and it’s hard to see them qualifying for next season’s Champions League at this stage.
Still, PIF continue to back Howe as Newcastle United manager. It has been a difficult season, but it seems as if Howe has the support of both his players and those who employ him.
