Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin gave Manchester United all sorts of nightmares in last night’s 1-1 draw at St James’ Park.
The Frenchman was back to his blistering and devastating best, as the Red Devils looked petrified to give him any time or space to conjure up moments of magic.
After Sean Longstaff caught Raphael Varane dawdling on the ball, the midfielder fed Saint-Maximin who cut inside and poked an effort into the far corner past a flat-footed David de Gea.
But the former Nice man will no doubt be kicking himself after he missed a glorious guilt-edge chance to send Eddie Howe’s side into a 2-0 lead.

The returning Emil Krafth squared a pacey cross from the by-line which Saint-Maximin didn’t connect with properly and de Gea was able to get down and scramble the effort away from goal.
Newcastle’s number 10 finished the clash on Tyneside with the most shots (5) and completed dribbles (5) of any player on the pitch from both sides.
But after losing Callum Wilson to what could be a lengthy injury, it was only 40 minutes later that Saint-Maximin pulled up much to Howe and the Newcastle faithful’s dismay.

However, the former Bournemouth manager did say that he didn’t think Saint-Maximin’s injury was ‘serious’.
Howe has said the Premier League club are “dangerously close” to being unable to field a full team for our trip to Everton on Thursday.
Saint-Maximin reacts to Manchester United result
Following the 1-1 draw against Ralf Rangnick’s Reds, Saint-Maximin posted a video reel on Instagram of his best moments against United.
Saint-Maximin’s goal against Manchester United was his first goalscoring contribution since his goal in Howe’s first game in charge, which came in the 3-3 home draw against Brentford.
Former Toon centre back Florian Lejeune and France international Marcus Thuram were among the many people to rave about Saint-Maximin’s performance.
