Unlike in previous eras, Newcastle United players are constantly the subject of praise.

Though the work Eddie Howe has done at Newcastle United has centred around the collective rather than focusing on individuals too much, one name is frequently discussed.

Indeed, Bruno Guimaraes has recently been in the headlines.

Ranked as one of the best players in world football as well as one of the most expensive stars in the Premier League, the Brazil star has had a transformative impact since moving to St James’ Park from Lyon.

Now, he’s being praised by Premier League coaches.

Newcastle news: Kevin Nolan blown away by Bruno Guimaraes

Former Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan is now on the coaching staff at West Ham and got to see Guimaraes up close and personal in east London before the international break.

Though the 25-year-old was perhaps fortunate not to have been sent off, Nolan described the player as one of the best in his position across the entire Premier League.

“I was really impressed by Bruno Guimaraes last week. I thought he was excellent against us. He should have been sent off, I thought the referee was really poor but, you know, I thought ‘he’s been excellent’”, he told talkSPORT.

Opinion: Guimaraes is getting back to his best

Like most of his teammates, Guimaraes struggled at the start of the season as Newcastle got to grips with their new-look midfield following the arrival of Sandro Tonali.

Of late, however, things are improving.

Hailed for his performance against AC Milan in the Champions League, Guimaraes was excellent against West Ham.

According to WhoScored data, he found the mark with 92.1% of his 89 passes and eight of his ten attempted long balls. It was his floated ball that found Kieran Trippier, who cushioned a delicious cross on the volley over to Alexander Isak to score his second.

After some struggles, Guimaraes is getting back to his very best.
