Juventus are hoping to terminate Newcastle United target Aaron Ramsey’s contract with the midfielder remaining out of favour, according to a report.

The former Arsenal midfielder remains on the periphery at Juventus under Massimiliano Allegri, and his chances of getting more game time look to be dwindling by the week.

And according to Calciomercato, the Old Lady are looking into the possibility of getting the Welsh star off their books in January.

Tuttosport reported last month that Newcastle remain keen on Ramsey.

The 30-year-old has played just 112 minutes of football for the Italian giants this season, which includes one solitary start that came on the opening day of the new Serie A season.

Since 22nd August, Ramsey has accumulated just 52 minutes worth of action across four matches.

His last outing was a six-minute cameo in the Champions League last month.

Ramsey hasn’t featured in Serie A since late September.

According to Calciomercato, Juventus are aware that they are going to find it difficult to sell Ramsey, so terminating his contract could prove to be the logical and best solution for all parties.

The man who has 69 caps for his country has a contract with the Turin-based club until 2023, according to Transfermarkt.

But the stumbling block is Ramsey’s massive £400,000 per week wages (BBC Sport).

Calciomercato claims that Ramsey is open to leaving Juve, but he would expect a lucrative pay-off.

Respected football journalist Fabrizio Romano has today claimed that Juventus are still planning to find a solution to sell Ramsey in January.

Should Newcastle and Howe target Ramsey?

Newcastle are reportedly interested in the attacking midfielder and allegedly have no qualms about offering the huge wages he could potentially command.

With Eddie Howe now at the helm and the former Bournemouth manager reportedly having a £50m transfer kitty available to spend in January, Ramsey could be an intriguing option for the new Toon boss.

When fit and available, Ramsey has the quality to unlock defences and score priceless goals from midfield.

With Joe Willock struggling, Howe is going to need an injection of goals from other players in the squad to lighten the burden on Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin.

Ramsey would be coming back to the Premier League with a point to prove.

Not needing any time to adapt to a new league, the former Arsenal star could hit the ground running and be the catalyst to help propel Newcastle to safety.

He would be an expensive signing, but he would be a statement signing.

Although his injury record and expensive wages run the risk of him being a big-money flop, Ramsey could also equally turn out to be Newcastle’s saviour.

Ramsey would be quality addition and in the position Newcastle find themselves in.

Can we really turn down taking a punt on Ramsey?

Probably not.
