Newcastle United recently added a footvolley court to the Benton training complex, much to the delight of Bruno Guimaraes, now it seems he and Joelinton have struck up a deadly partnership on the court.
I called it back when Bruno got all giddy over the court’s addition to the training ground that he and Joelinton would team up to dominate the footvolley court and I wasn’t wrong.
For the uninitiated, footvolley is a hybrid of football and volleyball. Essentially it’s volleyball but you’re not allowed to use your hands.
Newcastle recently added the court to the new training complex at Benton which prompted huge amounts of gratitude from ‘excellent‘ midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
Now Joelinton has also praised its addition, telling The Shields Gazette: “It’s very good to have.

“It’s good to play and have some fun.
“It’s also great for the team to get players together and the mentality of the team is incredible.
“The staff and everyone in the club are pulling in the same direction.”
And when asked if he and Guimaraes were the ‘team to beat’ in footvolley, Joelinton smiled: “Yeah, I’d say so!”
Who’d have thought such a simple thing could have such a huge impact at the club. It turns out too that it’s not just the players who have taken a shine to footvolley with Eddie Howe even admitting to having had a go.
“I’ve had a little game,” Howe admitted. “I lost to, it won’t surprise you, Bruno and Joelinton. My partner, who will remain nameless to protect him, let me down.
“[My partner] could be Jase [assistant manager Jason Tindall] yeah.”
It’s a bold move from Howe outing Mad Dog Tindall like that. He’ll be sleeping with one eye open for the next week that’s for sure.
