Joe Willock says 24-year-old Newcastle player has a unique quality that he loves

Joe Willock has given huge praise to one Newcastle United start who he thinks has a unique ability that no one else in the squad has.

Newcastle have had a number of unfortunate injuries this year which has really limited what they can do on the pitch, and Willock thinks there’s one in particular who they’ve really missed.

In an interview with NUFCTV, Willock shared how much he appreciates Alexander Isak’s style of play and how there’ nobody else like him in the team.

Willock ‘happy’ to see return of Newcastle star

Although he’s not had a significant injury like Willock who has missed the majority of the season, Isak has still been struggling with a number of knocks throughout the campaign.

The Swedish striker therefore hasn’t really been able to get into a good rhythm this season, though that hasn’t stopped him from scoring as he’s still netted 15 times this season in all competitions.

In the Premier League alone he’s grabbed 11 goals despite only starting 16 games, so it really shows you how much Newcastle miss him when he’s not in the squad.

Since signing for the club 18 months ago, Isak and Willock have formed a brilliant bond which has really reflected in their performances on the pitch, showing a great understanding of each other, and Willock thinks he can ‘assist like no one else’.

On Isak, Willock said: “Yeah for sure, I think his style of play has been missed for the team. He has qualities that we don’t really have in the squad so for me he can assist like no one else, so happy to have him.”

Isak is one of the best striker’s in the world

In terms of shot conversion, there are few strikers in the world who are more clinical than Isak who has been brilliant for Newcastle ever since he signed from Real Sociedad.

Given how difficult it is to find a top quality striker in this day and age, Newcastle simply can’t afford to sell the Swedish international who has the potential to be a world class talent in the not too distant future.

Both him and Callum Wilson have been two of the top strikers in the Premier League in the last 18 months, the issue is that they’ve really struggled to stay fit in that time.

Wilson now looks to be out for most of what’s left in the season, so there’s a lot of pressure on Isak to stay fit and ready for Newcastle who are going to need him for every game if they are to qualify for a European competition.
