Jamie O’Hara made a surprising claim about Eddie Howe, Manchester United and Newcastle United while speaking on Sky Sports.
Howe has been in charge of Newcastle United since November 2021 and certainly has an argument to be recognised as their greatest-ever manager.
The 47-year-old ended the club’s 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy back in March by winning the Carabao Cup, while Wednesday saw him record his second win in the Champions League as the club’s manager.
Indeed, Howe is arguably Newcastle’s best-ever manager and, barring a disaster, looks set to remain at the club for a long time yet.
Still, O’Hara rather strangely believes that if a vacancy opened up at Old Trafford and Howe was offered it, he’d go.

Jamie O’Hara says Eddie Howe would leave Newcastle United for Manchester United
The pundit was speaking on Sky Sports.
He was part of a panel discussing all things Newcastle, which led to a discussion about why Howe isn’t linked with more managerial jobs in the game.
O’Hara strangely claimed that Howe wouldn’t reject Man United’s advances if they seriously came calling for him.
“If Man United did really come in for him properly, he’d leave” he said.
No chance Eddie Howe leaves Newcastle United for Manchester United
Despite all their issues, the Manchester giants clearly do have a certain allure to them. Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo all headed there despite interest from Newcastle, although the wages involved will clearly have helped too.
Still, it’s impossible to imagine Howe upping sticks to move to Old Trafford at this stage. Newcastle owners PIF love the work Howe has done at Newcastle and continue to back him in the transfer market.
Howe is overseeing the post-Alexander Isak era at Newcastle and, on early evidence, he’s building an exciting new team.
Manchester United are a mess and though they may be interested in the former Bournemouth boss at some stage, it would be a major shock if he ever ditched Newcastle for them.
