Jamie Carragher reacts to Hasenhuttl’s comments about Newcastle

Jamie Carragher has delivered his blunt verdict on Ralph Hasenhuttl’s complaints about newly-signed players being able to play in rearranged games.

Hasenhuttl said: “We discussed during the Premier League meeting what would happen with January signing during the postponed games.

“Would they be allowed to play or not? It is not for us to say. We could be the same. With our new owners, we could sign a few players and it would not really be fair to use them in games that have been postponed.”

Carragher clearly doesn’t agree with the Saints boss’ comments and only needed one word to make that clear on Twitter.

We gave our view on Hasenhuttl’s comments yesterday and it seems like Carragher is firmly of the same view.

Plenty of sides had games called off over Christmas and Southampton have actually had a change of owners themselves since then.

They may also be in for a busy January and it would be interesting to see what they would say about the situation if they had a few new signings who couldn’t play in rearranged games.

There does not currently seem to be any prospect of new signings not being allowed to play in re-arranged games and that’s the way Carragher wants it to stay.
