Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane have been predicting what the score will be when Luton Town travel up to face Newcastle United this weekend.

In their last meeting back in December, Luton emerged victorious in a 1-0 victory at Kenilworth Road so Newcastle will be very keen to set the record straight on Saturday.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Stick to Football, both pundits shared whether or not they think Newcastle will be able to get revenge against the newly promoted side after a big win over Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

Newcastle want to continue good run against Luton

After what had been a somewhat disappointing first half of the season, Newcastle were handed a two week break in the middle of January to reset and look to have come out the other side firing.

A 2-0 victory against Fulham in the FA Cup and a comfortable victory against the best home team in the Premier League in Aston Villa has restored some confidence back in this Newcastle team.

They now face a Luton side who are also coming off the back of a huge result after beating Brighton 4-0 on Tuesday, so they have every reason to believe they can do it again this weekend.

Carragher and Keane, however, think that Newcastle will just have a bit too much quality for Luton on Saturday afternoon.

On the show, Carragher said: “3-0.”

Keane then predicted: “I’ll go 2-1 to Newcastle.”

Newcastle now have a much kinder run of games

Heading into January on the form that they had just been on in December, things looked very daunting for Newcastle who were looking ahead to games against Sunderland, Liverpool, Man City and Aston Villa.

Now, having won two of those and coming very close to a result against the current league Champions, Newcastle have every reason to believe they can go on a strong run in the next couple of months.

In their remaining 16 fixtures, the Magpies play just six teams in the top half of the table and only three of those are actually above them, so it’s the perfect chance for Newcastle to really boost their chances of Champions League football, starting with Luton on Saturday.
