In May 2022, Jack Grealish took aim at Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron, and now the Manchester City ace is finally set to play against the Magpies.
Grealish was nowhere to be seen at the start of the season when Newcastle and Man City played out a 3-3 draw at St James’ Park. Funnily enough, Almiron scored on that day.
It was justice for Miggy, who had been slandered by the England international just months before. Grealish had said Riyadh Mahrez had ‘played like Almiron‘, implying that he wasn’t very good.
It was classless from Grealish, who has since apologised and heaped praise on the Paraguayan. He was certainly made to eat his words too, as Almiron has enjoyed his best ever season in the Premier League. The 29-year-old is Newcastle’s top scorer with 10 goals.
While Grealish has since admitted that he was stupid for what he said and passed on an apology via Almiron’s Toon teammate Matt Targett, it will be interesting to see what kind of reaction the 27-year-old gets this weekend.

Jack Grealish in great form while Miguel Almiron has dropped off
During the World Cup, Grealish finally addressed the Almiron incident and confessed that he deserved the stick he was getting from Newcastle fans as what he had said was ‘stupid’.
Now he is likely to play again st the Magpies on Saturday, and will be curious to find out if the stick is going to continue.
Regardless, Grealish will go into the game with confidence as he is enjoying his best spell of the season in a Man City shirt. He is currently a regular starter for Pep Guardiola, and has three goal contributions in his past five games.
As for Almiron, his form has dipped. His last goal came in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, which was his first since Boxing Day. Unsurprisingly, he is not playing at the same standard as he was earlier in the season, which was to be expected. We have even predicted that he could lose his place in the side this weekend to Anthony Gordon.
Hopefully Almiron does feature, as it will be great to see him up against Grealish for the first time since those comments last year.
