Isaac Hayden has been at Newcastle United for coming up to six years now.
The central-midfielder brought in by Rafa Benitez has been a loyal servant to the club. Following Newcastle’s promotion, Hayden found himself out of the team for a season and a half.
However, injuries allowed Hayden to establish himself back into the side under the Spaniard. He was often used by Steve Bruce too.

We’ve seen less of the 26-year-old this season due to some injury issues, but he did score an important goal in a 1-1 draw with Brighton.
The Magpies were able to bring in five new players last month. The January window is known for being tougher to bring in new recruits, but the owners still did well for themselves. Should the Toon Army stay up, some exciting names could arrive this summer – which could spell the end of Hayden’s stint on Tyneside.
With his current injury woes, it’ll be hard for Hayden to prove himself
Over the Christmas period, Hayden was playing with a knock and last played for the club against Manchester City at home. Eddie Howe went on to thank him for playing, despite the injury. After the home clash with the champions, it was reported Hayden would be out for two months by The Athletic.
After spending in the January window, Howe will have to adjust his 25 man squad. The likes of Jeff Hendrick were able to be loaned out, but others will have to be left out. Considering he’s out for another month or so, Hayden could well be removed from the squad.

So there’s a very big possibility that we might not see Isaac Hayden play another game this season. Should Newcastle avoid the drop, there’ll be an exciting summer ahead. The bigger business more often than not occurs in that window and we might see more midfielders brought in.
This could spell the end for Hayden. If it were to happen, would be a real shame. He’s always been a hard-working player in the middle of the park and would throw himself into hard-hitting challenges. Overall, he’s been an underrated player for the Magpies.
Unfortunately, the dawning of a new era and injury problems could see the end of Hayden. Perhaps there’s still space for him as a utility player; he’s certainly a hard-working midfielder with a great attitude. But his current injury could see him cut from the 25 man squad, possibly missing the rest of the season.
