Newcastle United will be hoping star striker Alexander Isak is available for Sunday’s huge Premier League clash with Everton.
Isak is undoubtedly Newcastle United’s most important player, having scored 23 times in 33 Premier League games this season.
Without the superstar Swede in the side, Eddie Howe’s team have struggled. In the four Premier League games he’s missed this season, Newcastle have not scored from open play. On Sunday, Newcastle need to beat Everton to ensure they qualify for the Champions League.
Isak missed Newcastle’s loss to Arsenal with a groin injury, sparking concern amongst Newcastle fans as well as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players more generally, given the 25-year-old’s popularity in the game.

Is Alexander Isak injured for Newcastle United vs Everton?
Isak is a doubt for Newcastle heading into the Everton game, though he has not been conclusively ruled out yet.

On Friday, the Newcastle United manager told a pre-match press conference: “Alex is doing okay, hasn’t trained with us yet but has made good progress.
“Next few days will be crucial to his availability for the weekend. There is a chance, we will only play him if he is fit to contribute. We will leave the decision on Alex until tomorrow.”
Will Alexander Isak leave Newcastle United if they don’t qualify for the Champions League?
Thankfully, that does not appear to be the case.
Newcastle have told Isak he won’t be sold this summer, regardless of what happens with the Champions League.
Howe’s side need to beat Everton to ensure they qualify for the Champions League and, hopefully, Isak will put in a strong performance that helps them get there.
The striker still has three years to run on his contract, so the club are under absolutely no pressure to sell.
Newcastle value Isak at over £150million and that kind of price tag looks prohibitive to potential suitors.
In an ideal world, Isak would help Newcastle reach the Champions League, sign a new contract this summer and stay at the club for many years to come.
Quite how realistic that is, at least in the long term, could depend on the outcome of Sunday’s game against the Toffees.
