So many Newcastle United players have improved under Eddie Howe at St James’ Park, but Anthony Gordon thinks he is capable of even more.
The 22-year-old scored during Newcastle’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, as the Magpies moved up to fifth in the Premier League table.
Gordon netted the second goal of the afternoon, striking a sweet volley beyond Sam Johnstone, connecting perfectly with Jacob Murphy’s wonderous cross.
The goal atoned for Gordon‘s earlier error, having missed a glorious chance to score when he struck the woodwork.
The winger did not make the same mistake twice, and now has five goal contributions this season. He has been absolutely outstanding in a Toon shirt, and has arguably been our best and most influential player this season.

Gordon has kicked on loads since he joined Newcastle in January, but the former Everton lad believes that he can still get even better.
Anthony Gordon in the form of his life for Newcastle
Following the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, Gordon spoke to NUFC TV. He was asked if he is playing his best ever football right now.
“In my career, this is definitely the best football I’ve played,” he said.
“I’ve took a really big step, but that’s down to the manager. He’s coached me a lot of things that are now stuck within my brain. My football brain is just getting better and better working under him.
“But I’ve still got a long way to go. I’m nowhere near where I can be, so I’ve just got to keep going and doing what I’m doing.”

The best is yet to come for Gordon under Eddie Howe
Gordon has come on leaps and bounds since joining Newcastle, but he is adamant that there is more to come.
He is full of confidence, and appears to be relishing the responsibility he has at St James’ Park. He is the club’s number 10, and is tasked with being one of our chief creators.
Gordon is certainly rising to that challenge, as he continues to show exactly why Newcastle spent so much money on him at the start of the year. The club signed him because of his potential and their belief that he could realise it under Eddie Howe.
The Newcastle boss is getting the absolute best out of Gordon, who is a completely different player to the one who arrived in January. That is exciting in itself, but it is even more encouraging that he thinks he can get even better.
When it comes to Anthony Gordon and Newcastle United, the best is yet to come.
