Newcastle United will be aiming to start the new year just like they ended the last, by continuing their hot winning streak against Tottenham Hotspur.
After a largely inconsistent 2024, Newcastle United finally found their groove in December as they won five games in succession by an aggregate score of 16-1.
Eddie Howe has seemingly settled on his strongest side with everyone playing well but the likes of Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes have hit particularly fine form.
Next up for the Magpies will be a trip to London to face a flailing Tottenham who, in contrast, have won just one of their last five Premier League games.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United team news
In a rarity for Newcastle these days, they emerged from the victory over Manchester United without any fresh injury concerns but they will be without one crucial player this week.
Fabian Schar is suspended for the second time this season and will miss this trip to London, as well the second one this week on Tuesday for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal.
The Swiss centre-back, who has already served a ban after being sent off this season, has accumulated five Premier League bookings and two in the League Cup, meaning he misses the next two games.
That leaves Howe with a big decision on who replaces him at the back. Lloyd Kelly is the frontrunner but Sven Botman is edging ever-closer to a return after 10 months out with an ACL injury.
Speaking about the Dutchman’s chances of playing, Howe said: “He’s worked incredibly hard to get himself in a good condition. A lot of internal training, some match stimulus. He’s in and around my thoughts. I’ll have to make a decision who best fits that position.
“You go through a process with his injury. He’s done an incredible amount of work. We’ve taken longer than normally we would have done out of respect for the injury he had.
“I’ve got a decision to make in terms of team selection but if Sven is in the squad it’s because he’s ready.”
Fellow defenders Jamaal Lascelles and Emil Krafth are still out, though, as is goalkeeper Nick Pope and striker Callum Wilson.
Spurs, meanwhile, will be without a massive nine players as Guglielmo Vicario, Richarlison, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are all injured while Rodrigo Bentancur and Djed Spence are suspended.

Predictions
Just as when Newcastle headed to Old Trafford, it’s impossible to look past the fortunes of both sides and predict anything but a comfortable Newcastle victory.
The Magpies are on fire now they have finally clicked. They are a cohesive unit with a physical midfield that has the class to control games and a lethal attack capable of tearing defences to shreds.
If there was a team less suited to dealing with Isak, Gordon and Jacob Murphy, it would be Tottenham at full-strength, let alone one ravaged with injuries and hardly a fit defender to their name. This should be a whitewash.
