Newcastle United are in a worrying rut and things aren’t getting any easier with the visit of Liverpool this week.
It looked as if Newcastle United had turned a corner after defeating Chelsea, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest in succession but Eddie Howe’s side’s form has dipped once again.
The Magpies followed up last Monday’s defeat to West Ham with a dull 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace, a game in which they didn’t even manage a shot on target.
The players will have to improve dramatically if they have any hope of getting anything out of the relentless Liverpool, who have just dismantled Real Madrid and Manchester City over the past week.
Here’s everything you need to know about the fixture.

Newcastle United vs Liverpool team news
Newcastle lost Alexander Isak to a hip injury just 20 minutes into Saturday’s draw and it seems unlikely he’ll be fit to return, even if Howe is optimistic he won’t be out for long.
Though Dan Burn is playing through the pain of an ankle problem there are no other fresh concerns.
Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles and Emil Krafth remain sidelined.
Liverpool are without six important players in Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, Federico Chiesa, Alisson, Diogo Jota and Konstantinos Tsimikas.

Prediction
Well, it’s impossible to see anything but a comfortable Liverpool victory given the way both teams are playing at the moment.
If there’s one thing going in Newcastle’s favour it’s that they have tended to perform better against the bigger teams this season and picked up some good results.
But they’ll struggle to get past an imperious defence without Isak leading the line.
Prediction: Newcastle 0-3 Liverpool.
