Newcastle United return to Premier League action on Saturday as they look to get back to winning ways against Brighton.

Eddie Howe’s side haven’t picked up a win in the Premier League since their 2-1 victory over Wolves on September 15, with a first defeat of the campaign to Fulham being followed up with draws to Manchester City and Everton.

Newcastle United have been injury-hit for those games, with crucial frontman Alexander Isak among several others missing.

But with the super Swede back in contention to play, the Magpies will be hopeful of picking up three points this weekend.

However, that will be no easy feat against a Brighton side with a near-identical record and who came from two down to beat Tottenham last time out.

Here is everything you need to know about the fixture.

Newcastle vs Brighton team news

Newcastle will gladly welcome Alexander Isak back to the fold on Saturday after the star striker recovered from a foot injury that has seen him miss the last three matches.

Howe said in his pre-match press conference: “The toe is fully healed. Alex has trained and trained well, he trained at the start of this week and looked good. He will be in contention for the weekend.”

Callum Wilson was also earmarked to return after the international break but he remains a doubt as the Magpies remain cautious on his fitness.

Likewise, Lewis Miley won’t be rushed back after his return to training while Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles remain long-term absentees.

Kieran Trippier has joined them on the sidelines and will miss a ‘few weeks’ with a hamstring strain. Howe said: “Kieran has picked up a hamstring problem. It’s probably nothing too serious, but it will keep him out for a few weeks.”

Brighton have a considerable list of casualties themselves with Joao Pedro, James Milner, Matthew O’Riley, Adam Webster and Solly March all out.

Prediction

Though Newcastle have a healthy points tally so far, their performances haven’t been to the level you would typically expect from Howe’s outfit.

Injuries have played their part but there has been a missing intensity and the forwards are not yet firing on all cylinders.

Brighton, meanwhile, have played some scintillating football so far under Fabian Hurzeler and have the tools to do some real damage, including former Mag Yankuba Minteh.

Newcastle are better defensively, though, and are boosted by an increase in their own firepower with Isak’s return. This has the makings of a really entertaining spectacle.

Prediction: Newcastle 2-2 Brighton
