Newcastle United are hoping to get back to winning ways when they travel to Crystal Palace this weekend.

It was a London side that made the trip up to the North East to deal Newcastle United a shock defeat on Monday night, with West Ham emerging 2-0 victors.

Though the Magpies were left aggrieved when Callum Wilson wasn’t awarded a penalty on his long-awaited return to action, the Irons were worthy winners.

The loss is especially frustrating as it came just as Eddie Howe’s side were staring to pick up form after defeating Chelsea, Arsenal and high-flying Nottingham Forest in succession.

They will want to get that momentum back as soon as possible and a game against 19th-placed Crystal Palace offers the perfect chance to do so.

Here’s everything you need to know about the fixture.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United team news

For the first time in months, Newcastle’s injury list is looking a little healthier after the likes of Wilson and Kieran Trippier returned to action.

Long-term absentees Jamaal Lascelles, Sven Botman and Emil Krafth are still sidelined but Howe is hopeful of having a mostly fit squad for the trip to the capital.

Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock picked up knocks against West Ham but are both in contention to play. Howe said ahead of the game: “They have a chance to play. They’re not serious injuries. We’ll make a decision today.”

Palace, meanwhile, could be without up to seven players with Adam Wharton, Chadi Dnanou, Daichi Kamada, Rob Holding, Matheus Oliveria and Eddie Nketiah all out, while Eberechi Eze is a doubt.

Prediction

Palace have endured a terrible start to the campaign and have won just one game so far – against Tottenham.

If Newcastle have serious ideals of finishing in the top four then they have to be putting floundering teams like the Eagles to the sword.

With a mostly fit squad now to choose from, there are few excuses.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-2 Newcastle.
