Newcastle United have the chance to keep the good times rolling this weekend but face a tough test in Aston Villa.

After destroying Crystal Palace 5-0 on Wednesday, Newcastle United have now won six games in a row and are in scintillating form.

Goals from Jacob Murphy, Harvey Barnes, Fabian Schar, Alexander Isak and another own-goal from Marc Guehi secured the comfortable three points at St. James’ Park.

The victory saw Newcastle move up to third in the Premier League table and within touching distance of returning to the Champions League.

Defeating Aston Villa will move them even closer but it will be far from easy.

Aston Villa vs Newcastle United team news

Tindall suggested he would name an unchanged starting XI once again for the trip to Birmingham.

He said in his pre-match press conference: “When you’re winning games, it becomes difficult to change the team unless players aren’t performing.

“People can’t say that because they’re delivering excellent performances. In some ways, the team does pick itself.

“But we have a great squad and everyone has played their part this season. Sometimes it’s easy to get frustrated when you’e not playing but you have to put yourself in the shoes of the players in front of you.

“They support each other and we need that for the remaining games.”

There was also a further update on Sven Botman’s recovery: “Certainly not this weekend but, as I said, he’s ahead of schedule.

“He’s on the grass and joining in some aspects of training. Maybe next weekend he could be in contention for selection.”

Prediction

Villa are a great side in good form but they are coming off the back of an emotionally and physically exhausting match as they were narrowly knocked out of the Champions League by PSG.

Getting back to business after such exertion and heartbreak can be tough, leaving Newcastle the opening to inflict another bruising defeat.

Prediction: Aston Villa 1-3 Newcastle United.
