How Joelinton could help Newcastle complete Attila Szalai transfer

Attila Szalai is another centre-back Newcastle United are reportedly looking at this summer.

The Magpies are in the market for another central defender, having only added one in January.

Eddie Howe did want two to arrive during the winter window, with moves for Sven Botman and Diego Carlos attempted.

However, neither moved to St James’ Park. The Magpies instead turned to Dan Burn, who has been a revelation since his £13million move.

Newcastle have improved defensively, but that hasn’t stopped the club looking at reinforcements going into the summer window.

Botman has continued to be linked, and another re-emerging target is Szalai. Sky Sports claimed he was a target in January.

According to the Chronicle, Newcastle are still tracking the Fenerbahce ace. And the Toon might have an ace up their sleeve when it comes to negotiations.

If Newcastle do decide to make a move for the Hungarian defender, they might be able to lend a hand from Joelinton.

That’s because the Brazilian and Szalai are represented by the same agency – ROGON. This link could give the Magpies a boost should they decide to pursue a move for the 24-year-old.

With AC Milan and Aston Villa linked too, Newcastle need any advantage they can get.

If Newcastle do land Szalai, it wouldn’t be the first time under the new ownership that we’ve had multiple players from the same agency.
