Tottenham could now reportedly turn to £22m forward Newcastle sold to replace Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur today accepted a mega-money bid from Bayern Munich for England striker Harry Kane and if the 30-year-old leaves, Spurs will need to find a replacement fast.

There’s a (very) mild panic breaking out on social media that if Harry Kane were to leave Tottenham as is now looking likely. Spurs have accepted a bid worth over £86million from Bayern Munich for the England striker and with his departure looking likely the London club could turn their attention to Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson. However, 90min have another option in mind.

Wilson certainly has a lot of attributes that would interest Tottenham, he’s quick, clever, knows where the goal is and is probably the second best English striker behind Kane himself.

Tottenham could turn to Aleksandar Mitrovic if Harry Kane leaves

Callum Wilson also has a good relationship with Tottenham’s new signing James Maddison who went to Spurs with a view to being the man who supplies Kane with the goals, so he could be suggesting that Wilson should be their target.

Fortunately, it’s not the most likely of moves given Daniel Levy’s transfer policy targeting younger players. Also, there’s very little chance Newcastle would entertain any bids for Wilson, especially so late in the window.

There could be a former Newcastle man who ticks right boxes for Spurs however. Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic who swapped St James’ Park for Craven Cottage for £22million in 2018, proved last season that he has what it takes to be a top Premier League striker and he could tempt Levy and Ange Postecoglu.

90min have claimed that Tottenham are interested in Mitrovic, and given that earlier this summer the Serbian beast claimed he’d never play for Fulham again after they blocked his move to Saudi Arabia it could be an easy deal to make.

Alan Shearer’s Premier League record will stand a little bit longer if Kane goes

Since then Mitrovic has backed down and returned to training with Fulham, but you have to imagine that the relationship between him and manager Marco Silva is somewhat frayed after that ordeal.

Tottenham are bound to have their shortlist of potential strikers written up as this Kane move has been bubbling away all summer, so it will be interesting to see who they go for.

In the meantime, Alan Shearer‘s all-time Premier League goals record gets a stay of execution, but I don’t think for one minute that Kane won’t return to the Premier League to nab that record.
