Eddie Howe is a special manager who has done special things at Newcastle United.

He has been under pressure from the media in recent weeks, but not from the Newcastle United faithful. Pundits were tipping the Toon Army to turn on the manager if the Magpies lost the Tyne-Wear derby, but that did not become a reality.

Newcastle beat Sunderland 3-0 in the FA Cup, easing the pressure on Eddie Howe. Until the derby win, it had been his toughest period at St James’ Park.

He quickly became a victim of his own success – and he has certainly enjoyed plenty of success on Tyneside. Howe saved the club from relegation, then took them to Wembley for a cup final and qualified for the Champions League in less than two years.

He has been boosted by a lot of investment, but his ability as a coach is what has helped Newcastle hit the heights that they have. Howe has made so many players better, and Bruno Guimaraes believes that he falls into that category.

Bruno Guimaraes hails Eddie Howe for making him a better player

Bruno has been speaking to the Premier League’s official YouTube channel, and was asked to give his thoughts on Eddie Howe.

“He’s very special for me,” he said.

“When they signed me, I was at this level [gestures with his hand]. Now I am here [gestures much higher] because of him. He improved not just me but the team. When he got the team, the team was fighting against relegation. Now we are Champions League.”

Bruno Guimaraes has also made Eddie Howe’s team better

When Bruno arrived on Tyneside, it immediately became clear that the Magpies had signed a superstar. He quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders, with other top clubs wondering why they didn’t sign him.

The Brazilian stood out as Newcastle’s best player, but he helped make those around him better rather than dropping his standards. That has made the Magpies a better team, and helped Bruno achieve his goals in black and white.

Howe relies heavily on Bruno, and has admitted that Newcastle are not the same team when he is not available.

But for all of the 26-year-old’s ability, he has certainly improved as a player since his arrival at St James’ Park. He has been performing at an elite level this season, and he believes that Howe deserves a lot of credit for that.
