Isaac Hayden has taken to Instagram to post about his excitement for the coming season, amid talk of an exit from Newcastle United.

The midfielder has been the subject of speculation this past week.

Firstly there were reports claim he could be used as part of swap deal that would see Newcastle land Will Hughes from Watford.

Then on Sunday morning, reports surfaced about interest from Southampton.

The Saints apparently want to add some power to their midfield.

If fans were hoping to know how Hayden felt about the rumours, the player may well have provided a response on Instagram.

Amid the reports, Hayden uploaded an image of when he first signed for the club, along with the caption: “5 Years today defending the @nufc badge. What a journey it’s been, wouldn’t have changed it for the world. Looking forward to the season ahead. #NUFC”.

Hayden Instagram a sign?

Hayden was likely always going to post on Instagram to mark his five-year anniversary at the club.

But maybe there was something in the fact that he uploaded in the morning as the story was spreading.

Newcastle will likely take it as a sign he wants to stay put.

He surely wouldn’t write ‘looking forward to the season ahead’ if there was an exit on the cards.

And were he to stay, then that would be great news for Newcastle.

Not only is he a big favourite with the fans, but he does some crucial work in the engine room.
