Harry Kane delivers message to Anthony Gordon and co ahead of England final

Newcastle United player Anthony Gordon has had a summer to remember, and it could be about to get even better.

The 22-year-old has been one of England’s best players at the Under-21 European Championship. Now the Newcastle man and the rest of the young Three Lions have the chance to end the tournament as champions.

England face Spain in the final on Saturday, and have the chance to win a trophy they have not lifted since 1984.

Lee Carsley’s side have been brilliant, with Gordon one of the stars of the show.

It has been a difficult 12 months for the winger. He wasn’t playing too well for Everton, then had to force through a big money move to Newcastle. That has not gone totally to plan so far, with Gordon struggling to have a real impact in black and white.

But the club have high hopes for Gordon, who ended his first Newcastle season in style with his first goal for the club. Now he has taken his talents to the international stage, scoring two goals and providing one assist. He has done it in a different position too, being used as a central forward by Carsley.

Gordon has done very well in that position, and it could help lead England to Under-21 glory. They are up against Spain in Saturday’s final, and have received a message of encouragement from the senior skipper.

Ahead of the final in Georgia, Tottenham Hotspur striker and England captain Harry Kane has delivered a message of support to the young Three Lions.

He wrote on Twitter: “Good luck to the U21s tomorrow! Bring it home!”

Kane is showing support to the England youngsters, and the entire team will have aspirations of joining him in the senior side in the future.

Gordon will hope to make the step up, and it certainly feels possible if he can take his recent form back to Newcastle ahead of next season.

After a slow start, there really is a buzz about the speedy Scouser. Fans are ready to get behind him, and want to see him explode in a black and white shirt under Eddie Howe.

He will return to Tyneside full of confidence if he can help England win the Euros, so fingers crossed they get the job done.
