Newcastle competing with Chelsea for European qualification

Newcastle will leapfrog Chelsea in the table if they win on Sunday and given that the Blues are a direct rival for a European qualification spot this season, there is a lot on the line.

Howe is expected to return to Europe this season and fresh reports suggest that Alexander Isak’s future depends on qualiyfing for Europe.

Both sides are entering Sunday’s clash on the back of a defeat with Newcastle losing to Brighton last time out and Chelsea suffering defeat to Liverpool.

Newcastle are still only two points adrift from the top six but a defeat this weekend would put a dent in the club’s European ambitions.

Gary Neville and Paul Scholes predict Chelsea vs Newcastle

Speaking on The Overlap, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes have made their prediction for Sunday’s clash and are anticipating a five-goal thriller.

Scholes said to Neville: “There’s a lot of goals in that game”, and the duo agreed on a 3-2 victory for Chelsea.

However, Neville added that “Newcastle have got something about them”.
