Eddie Howe could have at least one player back from injury for Newcastle United’s game against Luton Town on Saturday.

The Magpies take on the Hatters in what has to be considered a potential banana skin just days after Newcastle were dumped out of the Carabao Cup in heartbreaking fashion.

The Chelsea defeat also saw Newcastle’s injury list grow, with Anthony Gordon forced off after a nasty tackle from Moises Caicedo. Emil Krafth also had to be substituted due to injury.

The injury issues refuse to go away for Eddie Howe, but a new report suggests that one player could make his return at Kenilworth Road this weekend.

Alexander Isak could return against Luton Town on Saturday

According to the Chronicle, Alexander Isak could be available for Newcastle United’s game against Luton Town.

The 24-year-old has missed Newcastle’s previous two games, despite Howe suggesting that he had a chance of being involved at Stamford Bridge.

That did not happen, with Isak being rested instead.

But the Chronicle believe that a comeback could be on the cards this weekend, which would be a huge boost. The Magpies have had to lean on Callum Wilson as of late, with the 31-year-old playing three full games in a row. That is a lot of football for a man who has just recovered from a hamstring injury and has a history of fitness issues.

Newcastle desperately need Isak back to full fitness

Newcastle need both strikers fit and available, so it is excellent to hear that Isak could return on Saturday. Hopefully he is back to full fitness, as his last appearance in a Toon shirt was rather underwhelming.

Isak came on during the Champions League clash with AC Milan, tasked with being the Magpies’ game-changer. However, he clearly was not fully fit, and was not able to influence the game in the way that he would have liked.

But when he is fit, he is one of the Premier League’s best strikers. In the words of Kieran Trippier, he is ‘frightening‘.

Fingers crossed he is back this weekend, as the thought of Wilson having to play another 90 minutes is scary given his injury record.
