Former Newcastle United Frenchmen Gabriel Obertan and Sylvain Marveaux are now teammates at Charlotte Indepdenence.
The pair were teammates during the French revolution at St James’ Park during Alan Pardew’s reign, but will go down as flops.
Last night, they linked up as Charlotte beat Miami FC 2-0, with Marveaux laying the ball off to Obertan to finish.

The victory means Charlotte are now eighth in the USL Championship, a place and two points behind last night’s opponents with a game in hand.
Obertan spoke to the club’s website about the goal after the match and said:
“It was a great moment, especially because there’s been a lot going on with me flying back to France.
“I’ve been here for a while without really being able to play, so I’m just happy I got to show what I was capable of doing and hopefully it’s the first of many.”
The commentator in the clip above mistakenly said that Irvin Parra provided the assist, but the match report and screenshot above accurately show Marveaux was the provider.
In total, Obertan played 76 times for Newcastle, scoring three goals, and has had a slightly nomadic career since then.
But now reunited with his former Magpies teammate, he will hope to find the net on a regular basis.
