Wor Flags will pay tribute to a club legend when Newcastle United face Manchester United on Sunday.

There have been some incredible displays as of late from Wor Flags.

Their display at Wembley, which Bruno Guimaraes helped inspire, was remarkable. Following that, the giant Eddie Howe banner really emphasised the enormity of Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup celebrations.

They then paid tribute to Eddie Howe again ahead of Newcastle’s win over Brentford, and rightly so. After all, he is the Newcastle United manager who ended the club’s trophy drought.

The Wor Flags display planned for Newcastle United vs Manchester United

Now Wor Flags are preparing to look to the past, as they prepare to pay showcase Toon icon Kevin Keegan at St James’ Park this weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, a display dedicated to Keegan will take centre stage on Sunday ahead of the Magpies’ game against Manchester United.

The Keegan display was meant for earlier in the season when Liverpool played at St James’ Park, but it was postponed in favour of a different display.

Wor Flags have now decided that it is time to pay tribute to King Kev, but will the man himself be there to witness it? According to the Daily Mail, it does not look like he will.

They report that while Keegan is ‘due on Tyneside’ for an event at the weekend, he is not currently expected to be at St James’ Park.

What Kevin Keegan has said about returning to St James’ Park

2008 was the last time that Keegan watched Newcastle United play at St James’ Park. He has not seen the Magpies play on home soil since his controversial exit when Mike Ashley owned the club.

Following the change of ownership, there had been hope of a Keegan return. However, fans continue to wait.

It had been reported that Keegan would not return until Newcastle won a trophy, which has now happened.

The trophy drought is over, and there have been talks between Keegan and the club. However, it looks like the wait for his St James’ Park return is going to continue beyond Sunday.
