While there is so much football still to play before the opening of the January transfer window, it’s hard to ignore it.
Such is the interest in Newcastle United these days, the club are linked with all manner of signings.
Eddie Howe is the first Magpies boss in years to actually have to deal with remaining competitive in a number of competitions, after all. With ambitious owners, gone are the days of simply playing the youth team in the early rounds of the domestic cups.

So, reinforcements will be needed.
Midfield has been an area the club have been linked with strengthening but they are far from the only individuals mooted as targets.
Indeed, defenders could be needed too. Howe is not blessed with a huge amount of options behind Fabian Schar and Dan Burn and one name was frequently linked during the summer.
Now, an update has emerged.
Fabrizio Romano says Trevoh Chalobah expects to leave Chelsea
According to Fabrizio Romano, Trevoh Chalobah expects to leave Chelsea in January and will soon hold fresh talks with the Stamford Bridge giants.
The 24-year-old was reportedly of interest to Newcastle during the summer, with the Blues said to have valued him at £45m.
Bayern Munich are believed to retain an interest in the player but, according to Romano, the race to sign him remains open.

Trevoh Chalobah: Newcastle move makes sense
Chalobah certainly fits the kind of profile PIF have targeted since their takeover of Newcastle.
At 24, the defender has a lot of his career ahead of him but has already managed to rack up some impressive experience in both the Premier League and Champions League.
Also able to operate in a variety of positions, he could feasibly serve as a talented back-up for Schar, who surely cannot be expected to keep playing every single game going.
If Chelsea are looking to sell, Newcastle should be keeping across his situation.
