Newcastle United fans know exactly how good Eddie Howe is, but Toon defender Fabian Schar has now gone into detail to explain what makes the manager so special.
Howe has been the chief orchestrator behind Newcastle‘s marvelous season, with the Magpies finishing fourth to qualify for the Champions League. It was a remarkable achievement, and it would not have been possible without Howe.
Fans have watched on in awe at the way Howe has changed things on Tyneside, inspiring players to improve and better themselves. A lot of the players he is working with were once struggling to stay in the Premier League with Newcastle, now they are finishing in the top four.
It is astonishing what Howe has been able to do, and he has received major praise from one of his players.
Fabian Schar explains why Eddie Howe is so special
Schar is currently away on international duty with Switzerland, and spoke to Swiss website Blue Win. The 31-year-old was asked about what it is like working under Howe at St James’ Park.

“He’s the best coach of my career,” he said.
“It’s difficult to define in just one area. He has so many good facets.
“His training theory is first class, there is not even a hint of boredom in any meeting. What he announces always makes sense.
“The way he meets me on a personal level suits me extremely well. People are important to him. This is an outstanding component for him. He also asks a player on a day off; you can discuss very private matters with him. I’m in a very familiar relationship with him.”
The perfect manager for Newcastle
For Schar, there are so many reasons why Howe is the best coach he has ever worked with. The fact he has made training exciting is a huge positive, and it shows when the players take to the pitch for a game. They are perfectly drilled and tactically prepared for the task at hand.

But Howe is also a good man manager, as well as a tactician. As Schar says, the players are given the opportunity to speak to the manager about private matters, which will create a relaxed and trusting environment throughout the club.
Schar has worked with the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Rafa Benitez, but believes that Howe is top of the pile. That is a tremendous compliment from the Swiss centre-back, who has seen his Newcastle career revitalised by Howe after falling out of favour under Steve Bruce.
