There is excitement about the youth ranks at Newcastle United.

While the academy hasn’t always been the most profitable for Newcastle United over the years, the young players in the squad have been impressing at times.

Lewis Miley, of course, is the standout and can now be considered a major part of the first-team.

Still, there are others. Newcastle fans are excited about Garang Kuol, with the forward having recently impressed for the U21s in a win against Stoke City.

Another is young winger, Trevan Sanusi.

Sanusi has impressed Newcastle staff with his performances in training and recently made his first-team debut against Bromley in the FA Cup.

Though difficult to imagine the 17-year-old getting much of a run in the first-team given what’s to play for this season, perhaps Miguel Almiron’s sale opened up a door for him.

Able to operate on the right as well as the left, Sansui could have been an option for Eddie Howe.

Still, the teenager has confirmed some bad news on social media.

Trevan Sanusi confirms injury in blow for Newcastle United

Taking to Instagram, Sanusi posted a story confirming he would be missing for around two months of action, having already missed five weeks.

“Unfortunate to be out for another 8 weeks after being out for 5,” he wrote.

An ankle injury may have derailed his progress, which is a shame to see.

Newcastle are expected to name a strong team against Brighton in the FA Cup on Sunday but perhaps that was a chance to have offered him some minutes, depending on the state of the game.

Sadly, however, Sanusi appears to be facing a while out of action.

Newcastle United have big plans for Trevan Sanusi

Newcastle sources are excited about Sanusi, who has been tipped as the most exciting player in their academy.

With that in mind, it’s a shame to see his progress derailed. Aside from Jacob Murphy, Newcastle do not have another natural winger able to play on the right without being moved out of position.

Though important not to rush a player still developing, next season should be big for Sanusi. He may not be a regular starter but it would hardly be a surprise to see him involved a touch more regularly, given the esteem in which he’s held.
