When Newcastle fans first saw Salomon Rondon playing for Everton they were devastated.
While the Magpies endured a tough summer that saw no takeover progress and only one signing, a Toon reunion was taking place on the opposite side of the country.
Rafa Benitez became the Everton boss, and he signed two former Newcastle players in Rondon and Andros Townsend.
The former joined Newcastle on loan in 2018, swapping places with Dwight Gayle. Rondon was given the number nine shirt, and proved to be worthy.

He scored 12 goals in all competitions for Newcastle, leading the line expertly. It was a sad day when he left the club.
The Venezuelan is now back in England, signing a two-year deal with the Toffees.
While Everton have had a decent start to the campaign, things aren’t going brilliantly for Rondon.
The striker has started Everton’s previous two games, which have been the only two defeats of the Benitez era.
Rondon led the line last night against QPR, as they crashed out of the League Cup on penalties. The 32-year-old didn’t take a spot kick, subbed off after 73 minutes.

In the aftermath of the game, some Everton fans have been less than complimentary towards their new striker.
Many have criticised his fitness, which is no surprise considering how little football he’s played in recent months. Others believe he was a waste of money, even on a free transfer.
It’s been a tough start for Rondon, who would certainly get a lot more support at St James’ Park.
