Newcastle academy talent Elliot Anderson scored for the Under 23 side against Stoke last night.
He has had injury issues which means the strike was his first goal since April, as per Transfermarkt.
After the game, Anderson gave an interview to the club’s official website about his return to the scoresheet.
“We created chances that we should have done better with but three poor goals that we’ve conceded, we should have done better,” he said.
“Individual errors, for example, the first goal the free kick we could have done better. Just sloppy things.
“It was good [to be back on the scoresheet]. I was quite nervous to be honest, I haven’t taken a penalty in a while, but I put it away and I was buzzing.”
Anderson’s penalty meant that Newcastle went into half-time with a 1-0 lead.
But they were pegged back in the second half and lost 3-2 on a disappointing night for the team but a good one for Anderson individually.
The result leaves Newcastle ninth in the Premier League 2 Division 2 table, with last night’s winners Stoke in sixth.
